  • The success of the Algiers contract is built on the efficient transfer of know-how

In 2006, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT was selected to help upgrade Algiers' water and sanitation services. It was an opportunity to showcase its expertise and share its know-how with the local SEAAL teams.

    WIKTI: Knowledge Transfer in Algiers

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has built up a unique range of skills in water and environmental management. In order to promote those assets, the company has made knowledge transfer a key feature of its business offering. The contract signed with…

  • Career development and training

Career management and employee development are key components of the Group's Human Resource policy and its overall performance.

For SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, sharing resources and capitalising on professional know-how is a major driver of social and economic performance. It forms part of its sustainable development strategy as the water and waste industry is continuously changing.

Sharing expertise

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT is a storehouse of valuable expertise, developed year by year. Sharing it in order to deliver the best services is one of the Group’s priority missions. With this in mind, the Skills and Training managers of the Group’s various entities are working together to co-operate on joint themes, exchange best practices and share tools.

For its part, Ondeo Industrial Solutions, a SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT subsidiary, offers its managers various Cross-Knowledge e-learning modules. These modules provide simple methods and operational analysis tools to evaluate skills, execute appropriate action plans and promote personal and professional development among all its employees.

Transferring skills and know-how

To respond in a concrete way to sustainable development challenges, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT needs to have a widely based, multidisciplinary expertise that is constantly renewed. Managing the know-how and skills of the Group’s employees is therefore key. A formal Water International Knowledge Transfer Initiative (WIKTI) has been put in place to ensure effective knowledge transfer to the Group’s employees and customers. This ISO 9001 certified method is based on a mapping of 38 business processes. It was tested in Algeria where SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT is involved in a management contract that provides for knowledge transfer to local employees. The Group is thus striving to capitalise on its expertise. In addition, the Lyonnaise des Eaux Residential Customers Department and the International Development and Training Centre have developed a customer-relationship e-learning tool for their employees. This tool is aimed at accelerating the marketing of the new range of “Dolce ô” services to residential customers.

2010 Performance

  • 14.5 hrs/employee/year of professional training, compared to 12.9hrs/employee/year in 2009
  • 63% of employees trained (69% of managers, 74% of top technicians and supervisors and 59% of plant workers, office employees and technicians)
