The 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact

SUEZ ENVIRONMENT follows the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact.

The United Nations Global Compact asks companies to embrace, support, and enact within their sphere of influence 10 basic principles in the areas of human rights, labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption measures.

These principles, by category, are as follows:

Humans rights

  1. Promote and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights in the companies’ sphere of influence.
  2. Ensure that their own companies are not complicit to breaches of human rights.

Labor standards

  1. Respect freedom of association and recognize the right to collective bargaining.
  2. Eliminate all forms of forced or compulsory labor.
  3. Effectively abolish child labor.
  4. Eliminate discrimination with respect to employment and occupation.

  1. Adopt a precautionary approach to issues affecting the environment.
  2. Undertake initiatives aimed at promoting greater environmental responsibility.
  3. Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

  1. Work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
