Let’s all be partners of the Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning Conference!

The 2nd International Conference on Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning will be held in Paris from 15 to 17 March 2017. Through this event, SUEZ is committing to protecting the coast and the oceans. The Group will also be represented – talks from two expert speakers are on the agenda and a digital model will also be exhibited. The Group's involvement is part of its environmentally friendly approach to resource management.

International Conference MARINE/ MARITIME SPATIAL PLANNING 2017 - SUEZ

SUEZ is a partner of the International Conference on Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning, which will be held in Paris from 15 to 17 March 2017.

This is the second time the conference has been held, and is organised by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), which is affiliated to UNESCO.

The event is an opportunity to encourage coordination and cooperation between the range of stakeholders in attendance, who will be able to improve their knowledge of coastal and ocean resources.

This information will be the cornerstone of developing a sustainable approach to managing these resources, protecting marine ecosystems as a result.

The voice of SUEZ Collaborators

Two experts will give talks to make the Group's voice heard:

  • Laurent Vigier, General Manager of Actimar (SUEZ Consulting). He will speak on 15 March between 5:00 and 6:20 p.m. on the theme of 'Engaging stakeholders in MSP'. His presentation will cover the Group's offshore and oil rig offerings.
  • Thierry Ohayon, SERvice d'Assainissement Marseille Métropole (SERAMM). He will speak on 16 March between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. at the Communication Workshop social event. He will discuss SUEZ's solutions to combat plastic pollution, giving examples from the techniques in use in Marseille.

Presenting concrete solutions

Discover SUEZ's solutions to regenerate the coast and protect the ocean by visiting our touchscreen information table. This digital model will be exhibited at the conference, and uses a range of technologies, including camera mapping and interactive videos.

SUEZ offers solutions through the lens of three different issues:

  • attractive cities;
  • successful businesses;
  • citizens' well-being.

Choosing the circular economy and acting accordingly

Sustainable water management is directly linked to the issue of climate. This conference is a chance for SUEZ to reiterate its 12 climate commitments, which highlight its position on environmentally friendly management of all resources.

This position has concrete applications in the form of solutions to protect the oceans and coast.

The list below features a number of examples:

  • The ECOSEASTEM project, which combats pollution caused by plastic microfibres.

  • Aquarenova, an initiative to restore the Bas-Gapeau alluvial water table near Hyères, France.
