Involved in the development of new technologies for more efficient management of water resources, the Group aims at making Smart Water one of its strategic areas by 2020.
Thanks to the introduction of sensors combined with a tool aiding decision-making or communication, it is now possible to optimise the management of streams in real time as well as the energy in water networks. Since its introduction, Smart Water has developed and today there is now a large range of practical solutions: remote and real-time network surveillance without the need for human presence in the field, adaptation of treatment and storage according to weather conditions, prevention of pollution and leaks and remote meter reading.
Pioneers in this area since 2004, Ondeo Systems have spearheaded progress in the field of Smart Water, i.e. Smart Metering. In November 2012, Ondeo Systems won the contract for the specification and integration of the GrDF smart metering system.
Stemming from a recently terminated research program, AQUADVANCED™ is an innovative tool that provides operators of drinking water networks with a “real time” intuitive and modular dashboard, enabling to improve monitoring of the network, detection of events (hydraulics, quality or energy) and simulation capacities. The concept behind AQUADVANCED™ is to perform data analysis and give the user access to a library of models designed to enrich the basic data and the anomaly detection process. AQUADVANCED™ is the first tool to optimize all key performance indicators of a water network. It was officially launched during the Singapore International Water Week (1-5 June, 2014), as the flagship product of the Group’s Advanced Solutions for Water Networks.
Pioneers in this area since 2004, Ondeo Systems have spearheaded progress in the field of Smart Water, i.e. Smart Metering. In November 2012, Ondeo Systems won the contract for the specification and integration of the smart metering system of GrDF, the French natural gas distribution company. To date, Ondeo Systems’ smart metering solution has been contracted out on 1.8 million meters.
Smart metering is a tool for automatic remote meter reading in water distribution, gas or electricity. As well as increasing the efficiency of the distribution network, this solution helps individual users to manage their bill thanks to real-time consumption monitoring and provides them with added peace of mind via a leak detection service. In Europe, by 2020, the penetration rate of smart water meters should exceed 50%. The technical and competitive advantage acquired in Smart Metering makes SUEZ a major player in the Smart Water market.
