Corporate social responsibility rating

In order to report on its economic, social, societal and environmental performance, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT uses the framework defined by the Global Reporting Initiative.

The Group is also assessed by corporate social responsibility rating agencies which analyse its official publications and answers to their surveys.

Some of these agencies have set up partnerships with stock index companies to create specific indices covering the best-rated companies in social, environmental and governance terms.

These indices are used to inform socially responsible investment (SRI).

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT answered the survey of Sustainable Assets Management (SAM). This CSR rating agency rates companies for subsequent inclusion in or exclusion from the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. In September 2009, the Group also joined the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World and Dow Jones Sustainability Index STOXX.

Created in 1999, these indices have become a global benchmark for socially responsible investors. Each year, the DJSI evaluates the sustainability performance of 2,500 global companies, based on an industry-specific survey. Only the top 250 companies are chosen to integrate the index.
