Meaning and mission

Background

"Nearly a billion human beings living in developing countries do not have access to a minimal quantity of safe drinking water, and some 2.6 billion people – or half the population in developing countries – do not have access to basic sanitation facilities."

For stakeholders, there is nothing preordained about the situation: it requires concerted action in order to apply the suitable technical, financial, social and managerial solutions.

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has been working for many years on meeting the challenge of sustainable access to water, wastewater and waste services in the countries in which it is located.
The company wants to increase its contribution, which is both distinct from and complementary to that made by other stakeholders (NGOs, development banks, etc.), by leveraging the considerable experience it has acquired working on this crucial issue.

The creation of the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT - Water for All Foundation fits in with and furthers that commitment.

The SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT - Water for All Foundation: meaning and mission

With the creation of the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT - Water for All Foundation, we undertake to encourage initiatives and provide support for actions in favour of sustainable development.

The mission of the SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT - Water for All Foundation focuses on two complementary areas:

  • Providing support for any philanthropy project, whether initiated in France or abroad, in favour of access to water, sanitation and health for the inhabitants of developing countries, particularly in urban environments.
  • Promoting and expanding knowledge and know-how in this issue.

In relation to SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT, the Foundation pursues two key objectives:

  • Increasing the contribution of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT to the Millennium Development Goals.
  • Developing, capitalising and disseminating SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT know-how acquired through its experience as an operator in a large number of different countries and contexts.
