Aquassistance

Aquassistance is a humanitarian association which was founded in 1994. It offers underprivileged populations suitable equipment and the professional skills of employee volunteers.
These volunteers work with local organisations on specific projects. The aim: provide and transfer environmental, water and waste expertise.
Emergency aid or development projects
Projects can provide emergency aid and/or assist in development in the company’s principle areas of expertise: water, sanitation and public hygiene. They may involve producing drinkable water, constructing new or repairing old installations, offering technical assistance, training managers, or supplying materials.
All aid or development interventions are:
- based on a preliminary assessment of the area, even in emergency situations,
- implemented if they meet a real need of the population,
- accompanied by a partnership agreement with stakeholders (the population receiving aid, partner associations, fiancial backers, etc.),
- followed by a detailed project report.
Aquassistance: key figures
In 2008, Aquassistance carried out 68 projects, which affected 800,000 people worldwide:
- 70% drinking water projects,
- 13% waste projects,
- 5% water treatment projects,
- 12% multi sector projects.
