Backed by experts at its centres of expertise and research laboratories, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has a network of external relations involving more than 270 scientific organisations spread around the world.

Comprising university researchers and engineering or industrial organisations, the network enables SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT to develop regular exchanges with the scientific community at the highest level in all its fields of expertise in the water and waste services business lines.

Through this network, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT is currently developing over 120 scientific partnerships, more than 70% of which are with organisations of international renown. This provides the company with access to new technologies, techniques and methodologies, thereby expanding its skills for the benefit both the company and its customers.

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT and the Cemagref (a public agricultural and environmental research institute) have recently strengthened their cooperation with the signature of a 3-year framework partnership agreement in April 2007. The partners also launched a major research project focusing on the study of the micro pollutants present in wastewater: the AMPERES program.

In 2006, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT signed a partnership agreement with Tongji University and the Eastern China University of Science & Technology. It has resulted in the creation of a research centre on industrial water in Shanghai (SCIP).

At the international level, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT participates in shared research structures such as the Global Water Research Coalition (GWRC), which brings together the leading players in the water sector and provides funding for research work in the field.

SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT also participates in the development of training courses and university research work applicable to its business lines. One example of this high level of involvement concerns its subsidiary, SITA UK, which helped set up and now supports the Chair in Waste Management at Imperial College (UK).
