Combining partnerships and sustainable management
The very nature of our business lines means that SUEZ Environment and our associates are central to the issues surrounding the conservation of the natural resources we need in order to create greater wealth and well-being for people all around the world. That is both a key opportunity and a crucial responsibility.
For SUEZ Environment, doing our job well means making a direct contribution to the aims of economic, social and environmental accountability for the world in which we work and live. In short, it means opting for sustainable development.
To further those aims, we have set up a road map, stipulating the global objectives we wish to reach by 2011.
Those objectives include developing our capacity to involve, understand and integrate the local situation.
Participating in the life of the local community comes down to creating subsidiaries that are involved in the economic and social fabric of a region, by calling on the expertise of local suppliers or by responding to specific issues in an employment catchment area.
Understanding the local context involves developing forums for consultation with local stakeholders which foster participation and democracy and create favourable conditions in which to conduct our business.
Integrating our activities means creating local skills centres by conducting a policy of passing on skills which will secure the long-term future of the services we provide.
Today, being a global company means knowing how to marry corporate strength with the grass roots presence of all our units, genuine local SMEs which are all close to their employees and customers in cultural terms while sharing the same service quality and the same identity.
A collaborative service management model fosters environmental awareness. Since each territory has its own special characteristics and each population its own particular needs, the SUEZ Environment branch should be ready to put forward solutions for their future. It is our mission as a public service and our obligation as a responsible enterprise that are at stake.
