SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT is a privileged partner of the “City” Chair at the National Foundation for Political Science, which is currently under development.
The Group seeks to contribute to the development of expertise based on a cross-functional and multi-sector approach to urban public services issues and their study through university and continuing education, as well as through open conferences which caters to a wider audience.
Urban issues are advancing to the forefront of research, both in Europe and in emerging countries. Many topics are now being viewed from an urban or local perspective. Some are related to public institutions (forms of government), others touch on social justice and economic efficiency (methods of financing for large equipment, involvement of various social groups), others concern major technical choices that affect the environment. More than ever, this new paradigm requires a fresh approach to the issues.

The National Foundation of Political Science has recognised the advance of these urban issues through work at its research centres, its “Land and Urban Strategy” Master’s degree and continuing education. The school intends to further strengthen this knowledge base.

Contributing to academics through the International Social Observatory
The International Social Observatory was founded in 1998 by the SUEZ Group, with the support of Jérôme Monod and Gérard Mestrallet, with the ambition of opening up social dialogue and giving it a global dimension. The objective of the Observatory is to imagine methods and means for finding the necessary balance between economic imperatives and emerging social needs.
The OSI offers a course designed to widen perspectives for 3rd year students at the National Foundation for Political Science, in which several Group employees participate each year.
