Waste

suez_se_p04026.jpgAccording to the Framework Waste Directive of the European Union, waste means any substance or any object which the holder discards is required to discard.

Human beings produce waste all the time, often without even thinking about it: their economic and industrial activities generate waste, but their daily lives and leisure activities do too.

The inhabitants of the European Union produce nearly 2 billion tonnes of waste per year

The more wealth increases, the more the volume of waste increases… and the more the quantity of natural resources diminishes. Waste management finds its raison d’être here: protecting the planet against over-consumption, which humans may one day dearly pay.

There are various categories of waste. An initial approach consists in identifying waste according to its source, such as distinguishing between household waste and industrial waste, a distinction essential for defining the most suitable treatment procedures.
