The rapidly changing water and waste industries are becoming more and more technical, making training even more of a strategic imperative for the Group. Knowledge developed by SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT is formalised and shared among colleagues, with new skills and expertise continually disseminated throughout the company through training.
In 2011, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT increased the average annual number of training hours per employee to 17, up from 14.5 hours in 2010.
The proportion of employees taking training courses has also increased to 69.4%
Developing the skills of each employee is a key part of SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT’s human resources policy. The Group is committed to providing all employees with equal access to training, regardless of their seniority. It organises local training for all job profiles. To ensure training courses are effective, 2 interviews are conducted before and after each session to encourage dialogue and feedback between employees and their managers. The goal is to formalise and introduce new skills and knowledge into the company.
Ondeo Industrial Solutions offers managers an e-learning tool to provide support for the first round of online development interviews. These modules provide managers with simple methods and operating analysis tools to assess their teams’ skills and foster development.
Lyonnaise des Eaux is also using an e-learning tool to train employees in customer relations. The goal of these e-training courses is to accelerate commercialisation of the new range of “Dolce O” services to individual customers. Each module gives employees an understanding of the product offering and technical features, teaches them an effective sales pitch, and shows them how to answer customer questions.
SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has also launched the “Summer Campus” programme, an introduction to e-learning. Aimed at managers, this e-learning method offers training in minutes on a specific point of interest such as managing a team, understanding a balance sheet, developing creativity, managing emotions, leading a project, or defining a marketing strategy. The Group provides managers with thousands of educational resources covering a hundred topics likely to match their needs.
