SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has been a partner of the Nantes Institute for Advanced Studies since it was founded. The Group supports a research chair that focuses on regional urban development and management. The research gives the Group a better understanding of regional realities, the challenges created by change, as well as local people’s behaviours and expectations. The holders of the Chair have been: Luigi Doria, a sociologist and economist teaching at Venice IUAV University and Bocconi University (Italy); Abdoullah Cissé, Professor of Law at the University of Bambey (Senegal); Lydia Prokofyeva, sociologist and economist at the Russian Academy of Sciences; and, currently, Salvador Urrieta Garcia, a Mexican urban planner. Since 2010, SUEZ ENVIRONNEMENT has also chaired the Committee of Donors to the Institute, which supports the institute’s development by researching and attracting new partners.
Created in late 2008, the primary mission of the Nantes Institute of Advanced Studies is to support researchers with recognized intellectual creativity to successfully complete innovative projects.
Specifically, it aims to open up the study and understanding of human sciences to non-Western points of view and create a new style of intellectual relations between developing and developed countries
