Jas de Rhodes multi-line facility

Located in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, the multi-line facility at Jas de Rhodes covers two major activities:

  • the recovery of recyclable waste,
  • the energy recovery of non-hazardous residual waste

The site’s processing capacity and the complementary nature of its lines means that it holds a key role with regards to waste management for the Bouches-du-Rhône department.

In operation since 1999, the site’s total surface area is 56 hectares and it currently employs 63 members of staff.

 Facts and figures:

  • A processing capacity of 50,000 tons of recyclable waste per year
  • A processing capacity of 250,000 tons of non-hazardous waste per year
  • An energy recovery capacity of 17,160 MWh/year, which is equivalent to the annual electricity requirements of over 3,000 households (*)
  • The site has been ISO 14001 certified since 2003 for the quality of its environmental management

(*)The elements used for the energy conversion calculations are based on an electricity consumption of 5.63 MWh per year per French household, taking into account all domestic electricity uses (heating, hot water, cooking and specific consumption). A household is deemed as being made up of 2.3 people. Source: CEREN 2008.
